Technical Support

What are M4 screws?

These are the fixing screws that are needed to secure your cabinet handle or cabinet knob, they are 4mm in diameter and are available in a variety of sizes in length.

How do I measure for M4 fixing screws?

What we suggest is to measure the thickness of the door, drawer or whatever you might be fixing to and add another 3mm or 4mm to the thickness and this is the size you require, eg: an average kitchen door is 20/22mm thick so 25mm will be needed. All of our cabinet handles and knobs are supplied with 25mm screws free of charge as standard, alternative sizes are also available to purchase on our fixing screws page.

What are hole centres?

These are the distance between two fixing points of a cabinet handle or cabinet knob.

What will I need to attach my cabinet handles or knobs?

You will need a drill with drill bit ideally a 4.8mm/5mm in size, a flat or cross headed screwdriver, tape measure and about 1 hour of your time for an average size kitchen. Please DON'T use battery powered drills/screwdrivers as these can lead to the screws breaking and possibly snapping off.

Will all finishes match for different products?

The various products in polished chrome and polished nickel will match each other. The majority of other finishes will be very similar, however the antique brass and pewter finishes will vary. If you are unsure, please contact us and we can guide you. To help you we have placed items that are a very good match on as a related product on the information page of each item. Please note that a lot of products are hand finished and will vary slightly anyway.

How do I clean my handles?

All of our products should only be cleaned with a dry cloth or mild soapy water. Under NO circumstances should any spray bleaches or detergents be used as they will cause damage to the metal surfaces. We would therefore recommend a cleaning Microfibre Cloth. Our suppliers recommend the following for the Satin Brass. "Satin Brass is a living finish. This means that the finish will naturally lighten along edges and surfaces of frequent contact over time. Initial care for this finish requires only mild detergent, water and non-abrasive cloth. Wiping gently in circular motions and drying with a clean soft cloth. Monthly cleaning is recommended for general hygiene and preservation of the finish. Under no circumstance should you use harsh detergents, abrasive cloths, paint thinners or compounds for cleaning the finish, as it will cause scratching, discolouration and hazing of the finish. A high quality beeswax or brass polisher may be used intermittently to help preserve the finish and highlight the natural features. Apply with a soft cloth."

Environment

What do you do to help the environment?

We recycle all of our packing materials used by our suppliers and were possible we use biodegradable and/or recyclable materials in all our parcels, such as the loose green fill.
